Numerology Glossary

Every key numerology term, defined in plain English — your quick reference for understanding your numbers.

Numerology
The study of the mystical relationship between numbers and life events. It assigns numbers to your birth date and name to reveal personality, strengths, and life direction.
Life Path Number
The single most important number in numerology, derived from your full date of birth (reduced to 1–9 or a master number). It describes your core purpose and the path you are here to walk.
Expression Number
Also called the Destiny Number, calculated from all the letters of your full birth name. It reveals your natural talents and what you are here to accomplish.
Soul Urge Number
Also called the Heart's Desire Number, calculated from the vowels in your name. It reveals your deepest inner motivations and what truly fulfils you.
Personality Number
Calculated from the consonants in your name. It describes the outer self — the first impression others form of you before knowing you well.
Birthday Number
The day of the month you were born (1–31), reduced where relevant. It highlights a specific talent or gift you carry.
Maturity Number
The sum of the Life Path and Expression numbers, reduced. It points to the unifying goal that becomes clearer in the second half of life.
Personal Year
Your annual numerology cycle (1–9), calculated from your birth month and day plus the current year. It sets the theme of the year ahead.
Personal Month
A monthly cycle derived from your Personal Year plus the calendar month, giving finer timing within the year.
Personal Day
A daily cycle derived from your Personal Month plus the calendar day (1–9). It indicates the energy that favours a particular day.
Master Number
The numbers 11, 22 and 33, which are not reduced to a single digit. They carry intensified spiritual potential along with greater challenge.
Karmic Debt Number
The numbers 13, 14, 16 and 19, considered to carry lessons or imbalances from the past that are to be resolved in this life.
Pythagorean Numerology
The most common Western system, which assigns the numbers 1–9 to letters in sequence (A=1, B=2 … I=9, J=1 …).
Chaldean Numerology
An older system of Babylonian origin that assigns numbers 1–8 to letters by their sound vibration and treats compound numbers as significant.
Lo Shu Grid
A 3×3 grid from Chinese numerology that maps the digits of your birth date, revealing which energies are strong, weak, or missing in your chart.
Pinnacle
One of four life cycles, each spanning several years, that describe the opportunities and themes emphasised during that stage of life.
Challenge Number
Numbers derived from your birth date that indicate the recurring obstacles or lessons you work through across life's stages.
Reduction
The process of adding the digits of a number repeatedly until a single digit (1–9) remains — except for master numbers, which are kept whole.
Angel Number
A repeating number sequence (such as 111, 222 or 333) interpreted as a meaningful or guiding message.
Cornerstone
The first letter of your name, said to show how you approach life, opportunities and challenges.
Capstone
The last letter of your name, said to show how you finish what you start and follow things through.
Name Correction
Adjusting the spelling of a name so its numerological value becomes more harmonious with the person's birth numbers.
Compound Number
A two-digit number (10 and above) considered before reduction; in Chaldean numerology its full meaning matters, not just its reduced single digit.
Psychic Number
In Indian numerology, the number derived from the day of birth (reduced), reflecting how you see yourself and your innate nature.
Destiny Number
In Indian numerology, the number derived from the full date of birth, reflecting how the world sees you and your life's outcomes.
